Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu Leads Efforts for Nnamdi Kanu's Release and Peace in the Southeast.

Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has disclosed ongoing efforts to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

Kalu emphasized that while legal avenues are being pursued, there are also concerted Political Solutions being sought behind the scenes to ensure Kanu's release.

He addressed this issue during a special edition of "The Ben Kalu's Mandate," a radio program on FLO FM in Umuahia, Abia State, highlighting the deliberate approach being taken towards achieving this objective.

Kalu reiterated the commitment of the Peace In South East Project (PISE-P), an initiative he recently launched to address security challenges in the region, including involving Nnamdi Kanu in the peace agenda.

He emphasized his advocacy for Kanu's release, stating that while legal processes continue, political solutions are being pursued.

Kalu also mentioned lobbying efforts with the federal government, including discussions with the President regarding the involvement of Igbo elders in engaging with him on this matter.

He expressed optimism about the achievability of this objective and praised Kanu's recent statement disassociating violence from IPOB, reaffirming the peaceful nature of the Igbo people and their focus on trade and creativity.
