The operation was based on actionable intelligence, as announced by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations.

The statement highlights the Army's unwavering commitment to ongoing efforts in combating terrorism, insurgency, and other criminal activities across the nation. 

Specifically, the 2 Battalion troops conducted an ambush against insurgents at Udowa in Birnin Gwari LGA, resulting in a fierce firefight.

During this operation, three insurgents were neutralized, while others fled the scene in disarray. The fleeing insurgents left behind a bandolier containing 111 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, two motorcycles, one set of high-frequency communication radio, and two mobile phones.

However, the success of the operation came at the cost of one soldier who made the ultimate sacrifice during the encounter.
