Following analysis of his B sample, Paul Pogba reportedly tested positive for testosterone once more after originally failing a drug test last month.Read the full story

The Juventus player reported the favourable outcome following Juventus' August 20 match against Udinese, a match in which he did not participate.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Frenchman was subsequently suspended by Italy's national anti-doping tribunal as a cautious initial measure and given three days to seek his B sample, which has since yielded the same result.

The maximum penalty in these situations is four years, with a two-year initial ban that can be doubled if it can be shown that the substance was intentionally consumed.

Last month, Mail Sport reported that Pogba had requested counter-analysis following his positive test, and that a prosecution process would begin in the event of a second failed test. This might lead to dismissal, plea bargaining, or a trial before a tribunal, among other possible outcomes.

Rafael Pimenta, the agent for Pogba, stated at the time: "We are awaiting the counter analysis and until then we cannot say anything."

The fact that Paul Pogba never wanted to breach the law is certain.

The player's future at Juventus is still up in the air, although the Turin-based team is rumoured to be ready to withhold his pay should legal action be taken after the favourable verdict.

If Pogba is given a suspension, the Serie A powerhouses may decide to end his contract.

Juventus already confirmed the original positive test in a statement.

The National Anti-Doping Tribunal issued a precautionary suspension order for footballer Paul Labile Pogba today, September 11, 2023, in response to the findings of tests conducted on August 20, 2023, according to the announcement.

The phrase "The club reserves the right to consider the next procedural steps" is used.
