Since Cody Rhodes brought Jey Uso to Raw, the locker room has been divided on whether the former Bloodline stalwart could be trusted. On Monday night, Uso delivered a message in his own defense by turning away the advances of Judgment Day in the main event of Raw.
Uso had been courted by the members of Judgment Day since joining Raw, with locker room members such as Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre doubting Uso could keep himself from again turning to the dark side and aligning with a heel faction. While losing to McIntyre, Uso delivered a firm “no thanks” to those advances by hitting superkicks on Damian Priest, Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio.

Jey Uso delivers decision on joining Judgment Day
Cody Rhodes def. Dominik Mysterio via pinfall with Cross Rhodes. After the match, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn ran to the ring before Judgment Day could attack Rhodes. This led to a conversation between Rhodes, Owens and Zayn about trusting Jey Uso. Owens ultimately relented, saying he would trust his friends that Uso had turned the corner after his time with The Bloodline, but that Owens hoped he was right to believe Rhodes and Zayn.
Later in the show, Uso was confronted by Damian Priest backstage. Priest told Uso that The Bloodline was made up of Uso’s relatives, but Judgment Day was a family. Priest then told Uso to not make him look bad in front of his family and deliver a yes or no on joining by the end of the night. Later, Uso interrupted Zayn and Owens as Owens was upset after seeing Uso talking to Priest.
Drew McIntyre def. Jey Uso via pinfall after a Claymore. Judgment Day made their way to ringside early and quickly interfered in the match, trying to turn the momentum Uso’s way. As Uso was seated in the corner, Judgment Day encouraged him. Uso gave a brief tease of joining the group with a fist bump to Priest before delivering a superkick to all three Judgment Day members at ringside. McIntyre used that opportunity to deliver a Claymore for the win and walked off as Judgment Day entered the ring to pounce on Uso. McIntyre looked conflicted about helping before ultimately choosing not to interfere, but Rhodes rushed the ring to run off the trio as the show went off the air.
Uso proved he could stand on his own as a singles star during his time in the story of The Bloodline. He’s now being given the chance to exist somewhat outside that story — though not without consistent references to his past indiscretions — and is delivering at a high level. This story will dominate Raw for weeks and months to come but the players involved certainly have the talent to make it work. Grade: B+
What else happened on WWE Raw?
- Kofi Kingston def. Ivar via pinfall with Trouble in Paradise. This was advertised as a two-out-of-three falls match between New Day and Viking Raiders before the show but was instead a straight singles match. Luckily, the bait-and-switch didn’t matter much as the two men put on a fantastic match.
- Shinsuke Nakamura def. Ricochet via disqualification after Ricochet struck him with a chair. Prior to the match, Seth Rollins attempted to attack Nakamura but was stopped by security. Rollins got his opportunity after the match, running in after Nakamura smashed Ricochet’s leg with a chair several times. As Rollins tried to deliver a pedigree, Nakamura backdropped him onto the chair before delivering several moves on the commentary desk that also impacted Rollins on his injured back.
- Chelsea Green & Piper Niven def. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark via disqualification after Nia Jax ran in and attacked Niven. Jax then attacked all four women and put each down one by one before leaving the ring.
- Bronson Reed def. Chad Gable via pinfall with a Tsunami. The match happened after a confrontation between the two backstage.
- Tommaso Ciampa def. Giovanni Vinci via submission with the Sicilian Stretch. A Ciampa promo aired earlier in the night with Ciampa calling for a match with Gunther.
- NXT Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (c) def. Natalya via pinfall with a roll-up. Lynch issued an open challenge for the title, which Natalya answered before being pinned after a series of pin reversals.
