Bryan Fonseca: Arturs Zagars has been one of the breakout stars of the tournament, and draws a matchup against Germany that’ll be a tough one for the nine-point dogs in Latvia. But they’ve overcome more with wins over France and Spain.

Zagars has gone over 14.5 points + assists in all but one World Cup game, which was against Spain, where he got to 12 with seven points and five assists.

In Latvia’s win over Brazil to punch its ticket to the quarterfinals, Zagars went over this line on points alone with 17, and he also had 22 against France in his breakout performance.

Zagars has been a big game player – they’re all big now – and Dennis Schroder will have to deal with him. Latvia will spread out Germany’s defense, so expect some draft and kick, and Zagars will find some lanes and openings to score on their defense because he has for much of the tournament.

His props are generally at 10.5 points and 4.5 assists. I think he can go over on each of them, but if you can find the combo prop, I would do that instead.

Pick: Arturs Zagars Over 14.5 Points + Assists (-115)

Joe Dellera: Mike Tobey has been one of Slovenia’s best rebounders throughout the World Cup averaging 6.4 rebounds per game. Now, they take on Canada in a must-win quarterfinals matchup to preserve their World Cup and Olympic berth chances.

Canada is slightly undersized, with Powell and Olynyk as their bigs, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the team’s best rebounder averaging 6.6 per game. Shai and the other team Canada wings should have their hands full with Luka, and I expect Tobey to take a step up as a force on the glass.

In Tobey’s seven World Cup games (including preparation) he has exceeded 5.5 rebounds in five of them averaging 6.7 over this stretch. He just had a down game against Germany with only 3 boards, but this is a solid bounce-back spot.

Pick: Mike Tobey Over 5.5 Rebounds (-118)

Fonseca: Canada has wing players to throw at Luka Doncic, especially Dillon Brooks and Lu Dort. He’ll still score and get his, as he can against anyone in the world, but I’m not sure what to expect from him as far as points.

I am expecting ample defensive pressure and the opportunity for Doncic to pass out of traps and double teams to find Slovenian cutters, shooters and rollers. He makes his national teammates better in a way that he doesn’t in Dallas.

This is a big spot for Mike Tobey as a roller and shooter – he’s shooting 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the World Cup – as well as Klemen Prepelic, Slovenia’s second leading scorer, who is near 15 points per game on roughly 53/45/83 splits. Prepelic is one of the most underrated players in the World Cup, and a reason Doncic has gone over 6.5 assists in two of his last three games.

Pick: Luka Doncic Over 6.5 assists (-128)
