British Masters betting tips: Good value to be found with Victor Perez and Sebastian Soderberg

This week we head off to the iconic Belfry at Sutton Coldfield. A par 72 and 7,336 yards on the Brabazon course.

A former home of a victorious win for Europe in The Ryder Cup. Thorbjorn Olesen is our defending champion.

A parkland tree lined set up with narrow fairways and thick rough. There are water hazards on nine holes. As temperatures should remain hot the course should be running firm and fast.

The greens are a bentgrass and poa mix and not usually difficult to putt in. Strokes Gained Approach seems to be a key metric here. A winning score of twelve under par makes sense this week.

Justin Rose returns to his homeland to play here and is installed as 9/1 favourite.

Well clear of the field in the world rankings this makes sense. I am unsure as to whether this is value in a big field though?

And then we have the talented but erratic Min Woo Lee at 10/1. I cannot see how he is value at those odds, as inconsistency and short odds are not a good match.

Adrian Meronk is 14/1. Playing well but starting slow. That may be tricky this week?

Big Hitting, but rarely winning, Jordan Smith is 18/1. The narrow fairways may be an issue for him? 25/1 Bar.

Other golfers to consider at British Masters

Alexander Bjork keeps finding ways not to win. The course should suit his style of play and 25/1 is fair. But until he wins, he is difficult to side with.

I like Victor Perez on this course. A top ball striker who needs to start showing up in tournaments to contend for a Ryder Cup spot. The 33/1 looks decent each way this week.

Suggested bet: Victor Perez each-way to win the British Masters

The defending champion Thorbjorn Olesen is 33/1 as well. The Dane finished off with an eagle and a birdie here in 2022 to nick the title. Playing Ok but I struggle to see him going back-to-back this week.

Guido Migliozzi is a bit flaky but was runner up here to Richard Bland in 2021. I see Guido as more of a golfer who can come from off the pace on a Sunday to score low and contend. We shall see. 70/1 looks big if he gets through the first two days OK.

I do like last year’s runner up, Sebastian Soderberg, at 90/1. The Swede fits the course well.

Jamie Donaldson found some form last week in Germany after a dreadful run.

Jamie hit the winning shot when the Ryder Cup was played at this course and usually plays well on UK courses. He has been backed in the early part of this week and is now at 125/1.

And finally, I am interested in the South African JC Ritchie. He was eighth here in 2022. Second in strokes gained approach last week in Germany fits well for this course.

He needs to get the putter to cooperate but at 140/1, he may be worth a go as an outsider.

Suggest bet summary: Each-way with Victor Perez, Sebastian Soderberg and JC Ritchie
