How you can bet on the 2023 NBA draft at Ohio sportsbooks

Sports Betting Dime provides exclusive sports betting and casino content to cleveland.com, including real-time odds, picks, analysis and sportsbook offers to help bettors get in on the action. Please wager responsibly.

Cleveland Cavaliers fans will be waiting a long time before their favorite team is stepping up to the podium at Thursday’s NBA Draft. Cleveland is set to make its only selection at 49th overall. The Cavaliers traded their first-round pick away to the Indiana Pacers in last year’s Caris LeVert deal.

Or will they be waiting that long? There’s plenty of scuttlebutt making the rounds via NBA sources that the Cavs are looking for a path to trading up and getting back into the first round of the draft.

Whether or not that should happen, NBA bettors certainly won’t be shutout on draft night. There’s a plethora of NBA Draft props available for wagering at the leading Ohio sports Betting sites.

Let’s look at a sampling of that menu.

DraftKings offering exact order wagering

At DraftKings Sportsbook, a unique prop available to bet is their exact draft order selection. This prop requires you to correctly forecast the exact order of the top five picks make in the draft. The +250 favorite in this bet is a 1-5 selection order of Victor Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson, Amen Thompson, and Ausar Thompson. If you want to shorten your prognostication, DraftKings is also presenting a top three exact order prop wager.

As well, there’s also a head-to-head prop on who will be drafted first, as well as a to be drafted in the top 10 play. You might want to take a look at Gradey Dick at +220 on the latter prop. He was called in for a late workout by the Pacers, who are picking at seventh overall. A to be a first round pick prop offers betting lines on 28 players to be selected in the opening round on draft night.

Take top 10 one at a time at BetMGM

Instead of asking you to assess the exact order of the draft, BetMGM is breaking down the top 10 of the NBA Draft selection process into bite size prop wagers. You can place bets on any or all of the top-10 selections via individual plays.

For instance, Brandon Miller is the odds-on betting favorite to go second overall at a line of -555. However, you can get +250 odds on Scoot Henderson going second overall. Several mock drafts are liking Henderson to go to the Charlotte Hornets at No. 2 overall ahead of Miller.

Thompson twins on tap at Bet365

Bet365 is providing betting lines on a sequence of head-to-head who will be drafted first among their NBA Draft prop wagers. The most interesting of these is a clash between the Thompson twins, and no, we’re not referring to the eighties new wave band.

Amen Thompson and twin brother Ausar Thompson are both highly rated for the 2023 NBA Draft, and you can wager on which twin you think will be coming up to the podium first. Amen is the -400 chalk to be the winner of this sibling showdown. You’ll get longer odds of +300 if you opt to play his brother Ausar.

Draft pick over/unders are offered on a dozen NBA Draft hopefuls by Bet365. If you think there’s something to Gradey Dick’s late workout with the Pacers, he’s set at +180 odds to go under 10.5 in the selection order.

You can also wager on each pick individually from 1-10 and place wagers on whether players will be selected in the top-five, top-10 or top-20 draft choices. There’s also a prop with betting lines on 29 different players asking whether they will be first-round picks.

Rookie watch already on at Caesars

It’s never too early to get a bet down on the 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year Award odds. At least that’s how Caesars Sportsbook is viewing the matter. They are offering betting lines on the outcome of this race even before the players have found their NBA homes via draft night.

Not surprisingly, Victor Wembanyama, the consensus projection as the first overall selection on Thursday night, is getting the majority of the love in this prop. He’s the -225 odds-on chalk. Scoot Henderson is next in this betting market at +350

The third betting choice for NBA Rookie of the Year, though, already has an NBA team. That would be Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The second overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft, Holmgren suffered a foot injury last August. Following surgery, the Thunder were opting to shut him down for the season. All projections are that the seven-foot big man will be good to go for the 2023-24 NBA season. You can access a betting line of +375 on Holmgren, the former Gonzaga star.

Caesars is also providing over/under pick projection wagers, separate plays on picks two through five, a too be drafted in the top-10 picks prop, and an exact draft order prop on the first five selections.
