Newmarket betting tips

1.50: Flora Of Bermuda 5/1 (1pt)

Flora Of Bermuda was a big winner in the tips at an SP of 5/1 in August at Goodwood, beating Juniper Berries by four lengths.

There’s 15 in this Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes for two-year-olds and this filly has been well up there on numerous occasions, including up against some of these rivals.

Despite some of these still being unexposed Flora Of Bermuda is very easy to back at this price considering how she had her excuses last time out in the Flying Childers Stakes behind Big Evs, when blowing the start.

She did keep on well from the back of the pack to come a clear second too, and her eighth place finish at York the time before can be excused for being upped in trip to 6f.

3.00: Audience 11/4 (NAP – 2pts)

This is another Horse that is a fantastic price considering his form in Group 2 contests this season, including on good to firm ground which it’s set to be again on Friday afternoon, as he placed just 3/4l behind Kinross at York two starts ago on that going.

Most read in Horse Racing

He’s progressed nicely this season as a four-year-old and is still lightly raced this season in comparison to some of his rivals.

Chindit will be a very popular bet considering his progression this season too, but his form over 7f is concerning and much prefers 1m.

Audience has won over course and distance and his form at this course reads 1231, with the third place coming over 6f which was just his only attempt over that distance.

3.35: Humanity 3/1 (1pt)

May well be among the shortest priced in a bigger field but it’s hard to get past that form – the three-year-old colt won by six lengths to a similarly-rated rival at Kempton and also won the time before over 1m4f, one of a few to already have form over this trip.

This demands another big performance but as he’s only carrying 4lb to that win while also carrying the second least weight of the entire field, he’s got a great chance under Murphy for trainers John & Thady Gosden in the Qatar Racing colours.

And despite Denmark’s poorer record, he also stands a huge chance dropping in trip and in grade for the Ryan Moore x A P O’Brien team.

4.10: Shuwari 2/1 (1pt)

It didn’t quite go to plan last time out here over 7f as she didn’t start very well, as has done on every start so far.

Carla’s Way won ahead of Shuwari on her last run but dictated the pace and set off early while this horse was at the back being waited with. Despite the huge deficit she did make up a lot of ground to only finish a couple of lengths off the winner in impressive style, overtaking the other four runners in the process.

Step up to 1m should suit as a result, and Tom Marquand is back on board as he was on this filly’s debut at Newbury, strong chances.

Chepstow betting tips

2.10: Captain Teague 8/11 (NB – 2pts)

A lovely Grade 2 Novices’ Hurdle as the jumps racing really returns for the new season.

Captain Teague will be one of the first for the current season that could be a big star for Paul Nicholls’ yard.

The now five-year-old was a close third in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham Festival in March behind A Dream To Share and Fact To File at a massive 40/1 price.

Gets a big chance in the weights against these rivals but does have to win on his first start over hurdles, but that third finish suggests he’s well up to the task along with his sole PTP run and win and other National Hunt Flat run and win.

York betting tips

3.15: Jungle Mate 12/1 each-way (1pt)

Looks suited being upped in trip here and if you can forgive him for never being with it last time out this gelding can return to previous form that reads 122.

Both second place finishes over 6f came in big contests filled with top 6f sprinters and he managed to keep on well both times to finish just off the winner.

Two starts ago at Naas was notable too just half a length behind Golden Trick on soft ground in the £133k Ballyhane Stakes.

On those first three runs he could be well weighted to pounce here given the way he finishes well over 6f at a lovely each-way price.

4.25: Mon Na Slieve 8/1 each-way (1pt)

Liked this horses chances in listed company and now he’s being dropped to a Class 3 having not won since his debut, which also came over this course and distance.

Will have to win off top-weight but based on his fifth place finish here in the Listed Julia Graves Roses Stakes, he should be well up there at the finish.
