1.35 Chepstow – Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase (2m 7½f)

Four-time chase winner GOOD BOY BOBBY hasn’t prevailed over fences since landing a Grade 3 race at Wetherby in 2021, but has been operating at a much higher level than this. The handicapper has dropped the capable 10-year-old to a mark of 132 and that gives him a great chance of victory here.

Selection: Good Boy Bobby @ 9/2 with Betfred

1.50 Newmarket – Newmarket Academy Godolphin Beacon Project Cornwallis Stakes (Group 3, 5f)

INQUISITIVELY has produced very good performances in his three career starts. He was third in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, while last time out, he scored in a Listed contest at York over this trip. There is likely to be a lot more to come from the two-year-old, who is the one to beat.

Selection: Inquisitively @ 3/1 with Betfred

2.10 Chepstow – Unibet Persian War Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2, 2m 3½f)

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls has won this race a record seven times and looks set for more glory with CAPTAIN TEAGUE, who was third in the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in March. It is likely the five-year-old will be even better over hurdles and now he steps up in distance.

Selection: Captain Teague @ 4/5 with Betfred

2.25 Newmarket – Godolphin Lifetime Care Oh So Sharp Stakes (Group 3, 7f)

SKELLET built on a promising debut to score over this distance at Salisbury last month, showing a strong turn of foot in the final furlong. Two of the horses behind her that day have come out and won since and the Kingman filly can take the next step in her career with an opening group-race win.

Selection: Skellet @ 7/4 with Betfred

2.40 York – William Hill Finale Handicap (1m 6f)

Salisbury winner KINGFISHER KING has shaped like he will appreciate this step up to 1m 6f. A lightly raced runner from William Haggas’s yard, he was gelded in July and has made the frame in both runs since. The handicapper drops him 3lb to a new mark of 97 and this is his chance to show his class.

Selection: Kingfisher King @ 13/2 with Betfred

3.00 Newmarket – Thoroughbred Industry Employee Awards Challenge Series (Group 2, 7f)

AUDIENCE began the season with victory here in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes over this trip. He has fared well since then, finishing a close second at this level at York and Doncaster. A repeat of those recent efforts should be enough to see John and Thady Gosden’s runner land the top prize this time.

Selection: Audience @ 9/4 with Betfred

3.15 York – British EBF £100,000 Final (7f)

AFRICAN SPIRIT blew his rivals away by five lengths last month on his debut at Newcastle (7f). That was an all-weather maiden but it was hard not to be impressed by the performance. His connections have targeted this valuable two-year-old contest and he can reward the confidence shown in him.

Selection: African Spirit @ 11/2 with Betfred

3.35 Newmarket – bet365 Old Rowley Cup Handicap (1m 4f)

After comfortable victories at Lingfield (1m 4f) and Kempton (1m 3f), HUMANITY comes here looking to complete a hat-trick. The Roaring Lion colt has a 6lb penalty to carry, but is set to go up a further 8lb in the future, so he is very much well in at the weights in this handicap contest.

Selection: Humanity @ 11/4 with Betfred

3.50 York – William Hill Autumn Mile Handicap (1m)

HAFEET ALAIN was very unlucky not to score on his latest outing at Goodwood (1m, soft), where he was just headed in the final strides of that race. He can gain compensation for his connections here, as this latest mark keeps him 2lb lower than his most recent success. Ed Walker’s runner has won at this course before and he benefits from having useful 3lb claimer Connor Planas on board again.

Selection: Hafeet Alain @ 13/2 with Betfred

4.10 Newmarket – bet365 Fillies’ Mile (1m)

Ollie Sangster’s filly SHUWARI began her career with back-to-back wins over 7f at Newbury and Sandown, the latter in a Listed contest. Second last time out in the Rockfel Stakes behind Carla’s Way, the way she has shaped indicates she will improve over this trip, which is bad news for her rivals.

Selection: Shuwari @ 13/8 with Betfred
