Southwell betting tips

2.18: Biowavego 9/2 (1pt)

Southwell hosted an All-Weather meeting on Wednesday and now switch to the jumps course for Thursday afternoon.

Sean Bowen has an impressive strike-rate at this course this season with six wins and a 21% strike-rate and that tracks across the last five seasons too, while also giving punters a £7.40 profit from a £1 level stake on all 137 of his rides at Southwell.

The market suggests that will continue with his horse Fairlawn Flyer who’s just about the favourite in the betting ahead of Swapped.

But the ground is a little bit of a concern as he seems to prefer the softer turf.

Biowavego has plenty of potential though and is suited to firmer ground. He wasn’t that far away from things on his chase debut and if jumping soundly here could have plenty to say on what will be just his third try over fences.

He’s dropped 6lb since his chase debut which seems a lot considering he has excuses of a mistake when jumping and being bumped last time out.

Both of those tries over fences came on soft ground too and maybe all these can align to see a huge improvement. Ground, weight and improvement all point to a potentially nice priced winner for the Jonjo O’Neill team.

3.18: Nibras Gold 4/1 (1pt)

Jack Tudor’s rides should be taken seriously on this course as he’s won four from his five runs this season and takes the mount on Nibras Gold.

The David Pipe-trained horse was tipped to win just a few days ago but was a non-runner at Fontwell due to the ground and now gets his firmer conditions to suit.

Last time out at Newton Abbot in July though, he ran with credit as he has been running with each run this season and with his usual month or so break looks ready for this.

He’s been very consistent winning on seasonal debut at Ffos Las, third at Worcester and second at Newton Abbot while giving plenty of weight away in those Class 4 Handicaps, but not this time.

Salisbury betting tips

3.40: Miaharris 3/1 (1pt) & Juniper Berries 16/1 each-way (1pt)

Miaharris has now won twice in a row and the unbeaten filly looks nicely suited stepping up from 5f to 6f after biding her time in behind before pouncing late on to win by a head.

It’s possible if she was pushed earlier on she could have lead by even further come the end but she needed to find enough room before Oisin Murphy could find the right route and covered huge ground to finish with a flourish.

That kind of run suggests stepping up from 5f to 6f will be ideal and the Owen Burrows-trained horse now goes into Group company for the first time, up against some 100-rated rivals and Group 2 fillies.

Soprano has been a little disappointing as it looked as though she’d have what it takes to win the Star Stakes at Sandown in July but came third to Shuwari before being beaten by three lengths to Fallen Angel.

Those two races were in top company over 7f though and drops back again to 6f, this time under Ryan Moore.

Juniper Berries is a massive price though, she also finished off well to come within two lengths of Miaharris at Newbury, after also recording close runs in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes and respectable enough runs all over 5f against the likes of Relief Rally and Flora Of Bermuda.

She may also be suited stepping up to 6f for the first time after a busy season.

Wolverhampton Racing League tips

6.15: Razzam 6/1 each-way (1pt)

Escapes a 4lb penalty here and is very dangerous not only going off the same mark as when he was a neck second in last week’s Racing League fixture at Newcastle but also has 3lb claimer Frederick Larson to help his chances too.

That run was among 13 rivals having been upped 4lb from his win over 5f at Yarmouth before so clearly this three-year-old is on the up and may be a popular bet here.
