Royal Ascot 2023 betting tips

2.30: Pearls And Rubies 9/4

The Chesham Stakes is a 7f test for fillies and colts and it’s a wide open one, but not so much in the market as Pearls And Rubies is a big favourite.

She only took on 5f on her debut and was cajoled along but kept on to win just ahead of the finishing line.

That suggests she should improve on this trip and is certainly bred for that, especially for trainer Aidan O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore who’ve had a plethora of winners this Royal Ascot.

Others could appeal more on the basis they’ve already confirmed their winning ability over closer to 7f.

Dallas Star is potentially overpriced at 40’s if improving on his second run and should be right up there even based on his five length defeat on debut.

But it does look as though the market has this right with what will be a very well-backed horse.

3.05: Olivia Maralda 10/1 & The Antarctic 11/2

May have needed the run in the 1,000 Guineas on seasonal reappearance either that or the soft ground and 1m trip wasn’t ideal.

Either way, this Amo Racing-owned horse was very impressive on second three-year-old start beating Holguin convincingly at Epsom’s Surrey Stakes at the Derby meeting.

Moore’s mount on the grey colt The Antarctic is also worth backing at current price.

Posted some great Group form as a two-year-old behind Blackbeard and gets the step up to 7f for the first time which could see him get ahead – much more experienced than most of these with ten runs, seven of which have been in group company.

3.40: Highfield Princess 11/2 & Art Power 16/1

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes is a fascinating contest this year with a plethora of international raiders looking to star.

Artorius, The Astrologist and Wellington have made the long trip from Australia and Coeur De Pierre has headed over the channel from France.

Highfield Princess was a close second in the King’s Stand Stakes on Tuesday at Royal Ascot and is another big fancy for this one as she’s just as good over 6f as she is over 5f.

If she can go well just a few days after her last run she should be winning this this year.

However an each-way play for an irresistible price is Art Power.

Oisin Murphy takes the mount and he’s been unlucky so far this Royal Ascot but Art Power could provide him with a huge run on the final day.

He was gelded in January and may have needed the at York – but surprised everyone winning by nearly five lengths at the Curragh in May and that could be the decisive factor in seeing even more from the six-year-old grey.

Runs consistently well at Ascot and this looks like a solid each-way play in a contest filled with endless possibilities.

4.20: Hukum 2/1

A lovely renewal of the Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) contest at 1m4f.

There’s some bigger priced rivals that warrant respect if improving on their second run since being gelded, but it’s really the favourite in the Shadwell colours that should take this up.

Hukum beat Pyledriver by over four lengths at Epsom in June 2022 and wasn’t seen again until May of this year to beat the Derby winner Desert Crown.

Shaped impressively there and can’t be passed up at double money profit.

5.35: Local Dynasty 20/1 & Laafi 20/1

1m2f is the trip for the Golden Gates Stakes which sees a fair few of these runners try this distance for the first time.

William Buick and Charlie Appleby’s form this year has been markedly lower than usual, at least together in Britain, but the trainer’s form still shows an impressive strike rate – ahead of Friday: 32%.

He will have to defy top-weight in the process but it will only be a matter of time before the Godolphin horses are firing again and you won’t want to miss it at 20/1, even for a place.

The colt was 3-4 as a two-year-old and was denied on his first outing over an extended 1m2f on seasonal reappearance at Chester by San Antonio and Alder.

San Antonio then went to tackle the Derby while Alder, had beaten the likes of Bertinelli (third to Desert Hero in the King George V Stakes).

Form reads well on that basis and there could be more to come from this Dubawi colt at this distance on his second run this season, now with Buick up.

That wasn’t his first choice – which was the now non-runner First Sight so it’s always good to have a back up bet, considering how Royal Ascot is going this year and that goes to Laafi, a lightly raced colt trained by William Haggas who got home fourth in the Lingfield Debry Trial and ought to do better back on turf down in trip.
