Cartoon Saloon is one of nine studios taking part in the next season of an anthology series for Disney+ and the first trailer has given us a sneak peak at their episode.

Described as an ‘Irish ghost story with a twist’, the Kilkenny studio will be helming episode two of the upcoming second outing of Star Wars Visions called Screecher’s Reach.

The first trailer dropped during Star Wars Celebration in London and also confirmed a very famous name will be voicing a character in the Irish contribution.

The Addams Family and The Royal Tenenbaums star Anjelica Huston features in Screecher’s Reech as the Sith Mother, alongside Eva Whittaker as Daal, Alex Connolly as Baython, Noah Rafferty as Quinn, Molly McCann as Keena, and Niamh Moyles as Ghost.

The short episode is directed by Cartoon Saloon’s co-founder Paul Young who also produced features such as Wolfwalkers, The Secret of Kells, The Breadwinner, Song of the Sea and the recent Netflix film, My Father’s Dragon.

Keeping the spirit of the show from the debut outing, Volume 2 will feature nine new shorts from nine worldwide studios, all of whom will have their own unique take on the saga.

The other international studios contributing to the series of shorts are El Guiri (Spain), Punkrobot (Chile), Aardman (United Kingdom), Studio Mir (South Korea) Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio in collaboration with Lucasfilm (Japan), and Triggerfish (South Africa).

The Killkenny-based animation studio has been making a splash worldwide over the years with numerous productions earning critical acclaim and even earning an Oscar nomination or two.

The Lucastfilm team also released some key art for the series which features characters from each short emerging from a stylised 2 which also showcases the variety of stories and the tones and styles of each production.
