Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers State is backing Prof. Sandy Onor of Cross River State and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for governor because of two crucial factors, according to John Gaul Lebo, a significant member of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar's campaign council.
By publicly contributing to Sanwo-campaign Olu's fund, he claimed, Wike is not engaging in the anti-PDP activity.
Let's Talk Nigeria, a renowned debate program on Sparkling FM Radio Calabar, featured Lebo as a guest on Monday morning.
He said that Wike's acquaintance Sanwo-Olu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Lagos, is a lifelong friend outside of politics and that Wike enjoys forging relationships.
"That is another reason he is eager to support Sandy Onor, a member of his own PDP. Wike and Sandy Onor both served as the LGA leaders in Rivers State at the same time. They've known each other for a very long time.
In order to ensure that the PDP wins the state again, Wike is also assisting the PDP in Cross River State.
He denied the claim made by APC supporters in the state that Wike was trying to use his backing to seize control of the state.
It will be noted that two weeks ago, Wike once more generously donated money to party leaders who visited him at his home. In addition, he sent 25 buses to their political campaigns.
