India set to be world’s third largest economy by 2027, finance ministry says

India's Finance Ministry has projected that the country could become the world's third-largest economy by 2027, with a GDP of $5 trillion. The ministry expects the economy to grow at or above 7% in the fiscal year 2024, which would be the third consecutive year of such growth. India's chief economic advisor stated that investment in infrastructure has helped boost growth and that the country's goal is to become a developed country by 2047. India currently has the fifth-largest economy globally, but Goldman Sachs predicts it could become the second-largest by 2075.
