Indigenous teen death inquest halted as charges mulled against cop

An Indigenous teenager, Jai Kalani Wright, died after colliding with an unmarked police car in Sydney on February 19, 2022. The NSW State Coroner, Teresa O'Sullivan, has halted the inquest into his death and referred the police officer, Sergeant Benedict Bryant, to prosecutors for potential charges. Jai's family, wearing T-shirts with his face, the Aboriginal flag, and the words "Rest in Peace," applauded and hugged each other outside the court upon hearing the news. The stolen trail bike Jai was riding was last seen turning right into Sydney Park Road before the crash.
