Sydney-based startup Refilled has raised AUD 1.3m ($845,000) in seed funding to manufacture 100 of its smart drink dispensers, called Refillers. The machines are installed in shared spaces such as gyms, universities and offices, and serve still and sparkling drinks in hundreds of flavours. Refilled aims to save one million plastic bottles from landfill and has already saved 25,000 since launching in August. The company charges a small installation fee and a monthly subscription cost for each machine, covering restocking and maintenance. Early customers include Google, the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Sydney.
