Poll: Majority of Americans sympathize with Israel but growing number say military response in Gaza ‘too much’

A new poll conducted by PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist found that while a majority of Americans Sympathize with Israel in its war against Hamas, a growing number believe Israel's military response has been too heavy-handed. 38% of U.S. adults say Israel's response has been "too much," a rise of 12 percentage points since October. The poll also revealed a divided opinion on whether the U.S. should play a major role in world events, including the Israel-Hamas war. Additionally, the majority of Americans disagree with President Biden's handling of the conflict.
