Australia shark attack leaves woman with “extremely serious” head injuries

An Australian woman is in stable condition with "extremely serious" head injuries after being bitten by a Shark. The incident occurred at Port Noarlunga Jetty, and emergency services rushed her to a nearby medical center. Swimmers were evacuated from the ocean as authorities searched for the shark but were unable to locate it. Australia has had over 1,100 shark bite investigations since 1791, and in 2022, it had the second-highest number of unprovoked shark bites globally. This incident follows a fatal shark attack in February, the first in Sydney since 1963.
