Why Olympic champ reads bad press despite ‘dark days’

Olympic gold medallist Kyle Chalmers has revealed that he reads articles about himself, particularly negative press, to motivate himself ahead of big events. While many athletes choose to ignore media, Chalmers believes reading such articles gives him extra motivation to prove his critics wrong. However, he admits that dealing with scrutiny can be challenging, especially when it comes to comments from people who don't know him. Chalmers burst onto the scene in 2016 when he won gold in the 100-metre freestyle, and although he hasn't won another gold, he values the growth and learning that has come with his journey as an athlete.
