Record-breaking Storm Ciarán kills 5 in Italy: “A wave of water bombs”

Storm Ciarán has caused record-breaking rain and floods in Italy's Tuscany region, resulting in the deaths of five people. The storm's death toll in western Europe now stands at 12. Italian Civil Protection authorities reported that nearly 8 inches of rain fell in just three hours, causing riverbanks to overflow and trapping residents in their homes. The Storm has also caused devastation in Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. Train lines and highways have been disrupted, hospitals flooded, and power cut off to many people. The storm is now heading towards southern Italy.
