Quebec media giant TVA lays off more than 500 employees, almost a third of its workforce

Quebec Media Giant Tva, owned by Quebecor, is laying off approximately one-third of its workforce, cutting 547 jobs, including positions in production, operations, and other departments. The company will outsource production for entertainment series but will continue to broadcast regional news from Quebec City. TVA is reorganizing its resources due to the changing media landscape, streaming service popularity, and losses in web advertising revenue. The company reported a loss of $13 million this year compared to $1.6 million last year. TVA plans to refocus on broadcasting, centralize its news division, and reduce its real estate.
