Sudan’s army and rival paramilitary force in fresh peace talks in Jeddah

Last week, talks between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Force paramilitary force resumed in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in an effort to end the seven-month conflict in Sudan. The talks are being facilitated by both Riyadh and Washington. Sudan has been embroiled in violence since April, with at least 9,000 people killed and millions displaced. The previous Peace Talks held earlier this year broke down in June due to both sides failing to adhere to cease-fire agreements. The hope is that the current negotiations will result in a new cease-fire and a political agreement for Sudan's stability and prosperity.
