Former Chinese premier Li Keqiang has died, state media reports

Former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has died at the age of 68 after suffering a heart attack while in Shanghai, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV. Li served as premier for two years until March and was known for his economic-reform minded approach. He had close ties with former president Hu Jintao, which sometimes caused friction with current president Xi Jinping. Xi, who is serving an unprecedented third term as president, appointed loyalist Li Qiang as the new premier this year. The premier is also the head of China's top executive body, the State Council.
