Nice’s Atal banned for 7 matches after Israel-Hamas post

French footballer Youcef Atal has been suspended for seven matches by the French football league after sharing an antisemitic message on social media. Atal had already been suspended by his club, Nice, and has since apologized for his actions. The public prosecutor's office has opened a preliminary investigation into Atal for charges of defending terrorism and public incitement to hatred or violence based on religion. Atal, who also plays for Algeria's national team, reposted and then deleted a video containing an antisemitic statement made by a Palestinian preacher. He has expressed his condemnation of all forms of violence.
