Mattel says Barbie sales grew 16% as blockbuster movie became a phenomenon

Mattel reported a 16% increase in Barbie Sales in the third quarter, attributing the boost to the success of the "Barbie" movie, which grossed over $1.4 billion globally. The film is the highest-grossing movie of the year. Despite the positive sales growth, Mattel's profit dropped to $146.3 million, down from $289.9 million in the same period last year. Hot Wheels also saw a significant increase in sales, jumping 22%. Mattel plans to leverage its intellectual property to inspire other potential blockbuster movies, including a Hot Wheels film in collaboration with Warner Bros.
