HC Refuses to Grant Permission to Hold Event at Ramlila Maidan, Says Posters Indicate Communal Overtones

The Delhi High Court has refused to Grant Permission for an organisation to hold a public meeting of around 10,000 people at Ramlila ground on October 29. The court stated that the event could have communal overtones and result in tension in the Old Delhi area. However, the court said that after the festive season, the organisation can approach the authorities for fresh permission by providing a list of speakers and assurance that the event will not cause tension. The petition was filed by Mission Save Constitution, which aims to create awareness about constitutional rights.
