Hurricane Otis quickly strengthens into Category 5 storm off Mexican coast

Hurricane Otis has rapidly intensified into a Category 5 Storm off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico. It strengthened from a tropical storm to a major hurricane within hours. The storm is expected to make landfall by early Wednesday and bring catastrophic damage, with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. It is forecasted to bring heavy rainfall of 8 to 20 inches and may cause life-threatening coastal flooding. Mexico's army and navy have deployed over 8,000 troops to aid in rescues, and Acapulco's port has been closed. Otis is expected to weaken and dissipate over southern Mexico by Wednesday night.
