UAW strikes at profitable General Motors SUV plant in Texas

The United Auto Workers union has gone on Strike at a General Motors (GM) SUV factory in Arlington, Texas, following a strike at a Stellantis pickup truck factory in Michigan. This adds to the ongoing labor dispute that has already seen around 46,000 union workers on strike for six weeks. The Arlington plant produces profitable vehicles such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. Despite GM's strong third-quarter financial results, with a net profit of over $3 billion, the union claims that GM's offer for wages and benefits is not fair. Both sides remain far apart in their positions.
