Paleontologists in Alberta have discovered rare Fossils of prehistoric horses and camels dating back 1.5 to 4.5 million years. The fossils were found in a gravel pit in Big Stone, southeast of Edmonton. The discovery was made after Kelsey Martin, the aggregates manager, noticed rocks that appeared different from other sites. The find exceeded expectations, and researchers have been returning to the site since 2019. In addition to horse and camel fossils, they have also found other unidentified fossils. Scientists are working to date the fossils more precisely using methods such as pollen analysis and paleomagnetism.
