Director Ellie Foumbi wins top prize at Cameroon film festival

The Ecrans Noirs festival in Cameroon recently concluded, with Director Ellie Foumbi winning the top prize for her film "Mon père le diable". The festival showcased 48 films, with 11 of them in the running for the Ecran d'Or award. Other awards were given to actors, series, and documentaries, including the best Cameroonian actress award to Stéphanie Tum. Senegalese filmmaker Thomas Delgado won the Grand Prize for Best Scriptwriter. The festival also paid tribute to the late Senegalese film director Sembène Ousmane, who would have turned 100 this year. The festival featured a diverse range of African films.
