Venezuelans have become the Largest Nationality arrested for illegally crossing the US-Mexico border, surpassing Mexicans for the first time on record. In September, Venezuelans were arrested 54,833 times, more than double the previous month and well above the previous monthly high. Overall, arrests of all nationalities entering from Mexico reached 218,763 in September, up 21% from August. The Biden administration has recently granted temporary legal status to nearly 500,000 Venezuelans already in the US but has vowed to deport those who come illegally after July 31. The number of illegal Border Crossings hit a new all-time monthly high of 269,735 in September.
