Scientists conducted clinical trials on an herbal extract called Sailuotong (SLT) and found that it improved memory and executive function in participants with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in under three months. SLT contains extracts of Panax ginseng, Ginkgo biloba, and Crocus sativus L. The research team believes SLT could potentially ward off dementia and plans to conduct longer studies. The herbal mixture has already been shown to have anti-inflammatory antioxidant properties and potential cognitive benefits. The 12-week trial involved 78 participants aged 60 and older, with positive results showing significant improvement in memory and thinking in the SLT group compared to the placebo group.
