‘Erratic’ Hurricane Norma on Track to Hit Mexico’s Baja California

Hurricane Norma is strengthening and expected to hit Mexico's Baja California peninsula, bringing heavy rainfall and threatening popular tourist resorts. The storm is currently at Category 3 strength with maximum sustained winds of 193 kph. Governor Victor Manuel Castro has urged businesses to close and people to stay indoors, with public transport shutting down. Shelters with a capacity for 10,000 people have been set up. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) warns of dangerous winds, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding in southern Baja California and Sinaloa state. Between 12 and 38 centimeters of rain are expected, and there is a risk of mudslides.
