The initiative will focus on checking accommodation allocated under emergency quotas and reservations for senior citizens and cancer patients. Railway zones have been instructed to assign senior-level officers to monitor the drive. Instances of ticketless travel have been on the rise, with 3.6 crore passengers apprehended during the fiscal year 2022-23, a significant increase from the previous year. Indian Railways has also introduced special train services for Diwali and Chhath to accommodate the surge in travelers.
