The Odisha government has started its own tiger census in Similipal Tiger Reserve and Kendujhar district. The census in Similipal Tiger Reserve will be conducted from 9 AM to 4 PM and will continue till October 25, 2023. The reserve has been divided into three blocks for counting, and over 700 forest department employees will participate. In Kendujhar district, 75 teams have been deployed for the census, with 55 cameras installed in different areas. The process in Kendujhar will continue till November 15, 2023. Both regions aim to provide accurate data on tiger populations.
