Guinness World Records has named Pepper X as the new hottest pepper in the world, with an average of 2,693,000 Scoville Heat Units. Developed by pepper expert Ed Currie, who previously held the Record with the Carolina Reaper, Pepper X was crossbred and cultivated for over a decade. Currie kept Pepper X in reserve in case any hotter peppers were released, but when none emerged, he decided to bring it out. Pepper X is currently only available in hot sauce form, as the pods and seeds are considered proprietary and will not be sold.
