Kenyan President William Ruto arrives in China for Belt and Road Forum

Kenyan President William Ruto has arrived in Beijing to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The forum, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, has over 140 countries and 30 international organizations confirmed to attend. Ruto plans to ask for a $1 billion loan and a debt repayment restructuring plan from China, as Kenya has accumulated over $68 billion in debt. China is Kenya's second-largest creditor. Despite economic challenges, including a slowdown in growth and high inflation, China has praised bilateral cooperation with Kenya.
