Former Gabonese First Lady Incarcerated Amidst Corruption and Forgery Allegation

Former Gabonese First Lady, Sylvia Bongo Ondimba, has been incarcerated in Libreville's central prison after being charged with money laundering and forgery. She had been under house arrest since a Military Coup accused her of embezzling public funds. The investigation also involves her son, Noureddin Bongo Valentin, who is already in custody, and six former senior officials from the presidential cabinet. The military coup occurred in August, shortly after the announcement of President Ali Bongo Ondimba's reelection, with General Brice Oligui Nguema being proclaimed as the president of the Transition.
