A fast-growing Wildfire in northeastern British Columbia has prompted an evacuation alert for more than two dozen properties near Chetwynd. The Mount Wartenbe wildfire, which has grown to seven square kilometers, is considered a potential threat to public safety. The Peace River Regional District has issued the alert, urging residents to be prepared to leave their properties on short notice. Despite a decrease in wildfire activity across the province, warm and dry conditions in the northeast have sustained the risk. The Mount Wartenbe fire is currently the only wildfire of note in the province, with 323 active wildfires overall.
