Cameroon: Toll rises to at least 27 dead and 50 injured in floods

At least 27 people have died and over 50 have been injured in Floods in Cameroon's capital, Yaoundé. The heavy rains caused floodwaters to sweep away buildings and structures, leaving many in ruins. Some bodies were found more than 100 meters from their homes. The Urbanism Minister, Celestine Ketcha Courtes, has called on residents to follow the instructions of local authorities and ensure the waterways are clear. Flooding has become more frequent in recent years in Cameroon, with climate change and poor construction practices contributing to the problem. The floods were worsened by a dike in a man-made lake collapsing.
