At least 13 people have died in Cameroon after a landslide caused by Torrential Rain destroyed parts of the Mbankolo neighbourhood, near the capital city of Yaoundé. The rain caused a dyke to rupture, resulting in around thirty houses being destroyed. The death toll may increase, and firefighters are currently conducting search and rescue operations. Mudslides are common in Yaoundé during the rainy season, and authorities have been demolishing high-risk buildings. Some of the collapsed buildings had already been marked for demolition.
