Conflict in Myanmar’s Shan state drives 1,000 civilians into China

Fighting between the junta troops and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Myanmar's Shan state has forced over 1,000 civilians to seek shelter in China. Since the military coup in February 2021, tens of thousands of people have fled to neighboring countries to escape Conflict. Over 1.6 million people have been internally displaced by fighting since the coup. The recent clashes between the military and TNLA have led to the displacement of residents from several villages, with concerns about the impact on livelihoods and education. The fighting has intensified due to the junta's pressure on the TNLA to control the border town of Muse.
