Church roof collapses in Mexico, Catholic officials say at least 1 dead

The roof of a church in northern Mexico collapsed during a Mass, trapping an unknown number of people in the rubble. Approximately 30 parishioners were believed to be trapped, and rescuers worked into the night to search for survivors. The Mexican Council of Bishops offered prayers for the victims, but did not provide a confirmed death toll. Bishop José Armando Alvarez reported that some individuals had been rescued alive. The cause of the collapse is unknown, and there were no signs of an explosion or seismic activity. The city of Ciudad Madero, where the incident occurred, is located south of Brownsville, Texas.
