The clock is ticking as United Auto Workers threaten to expand strikes Friday

The United Auto Workers (UAW) strikes against Detroit's three automakers may expand on Friday if the union does not receive improved contract offers. UAW President Shawn Fain is scheduled to make an announcement at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Progress was reported in talks on Thursday night, and the union left open the possibility of delaying the expansion of strikes. The automakers' last known wage offers were around 20% over four years, which is less than what the union has demanded. The strike initially targeted one assembly plant from each company and later added 38 parts distribution centers.
