Ottawa poised to make decision on search of Manitoba landfill for human remains: minister

Crown-Indigenous Relations Minister Gary Anandasangaree has announced that the federal government is preparing to present a plan in response to calls for a Search of a Manitoba Landfill for the remains of two First Nations women believed to be victims of a serial killer. The federal government is willing to fund the search but requires cooperation from the province of Manitoba. Anandasangaree expressed concern over the issue being politicized during Manitoba's provincial election campaign. The search could cost between $84 million and $184 million and may take one to three years. A final decision is expected after the election on October 3.
