Tasered woman’s family enters mediation with NSW government

The family of Clare Nowland is suing the Nsw Government after she was tasered by police at an aged-care home in Cooma. Nowland, a 95-year-old great-grandmother with dementia, fell and sustained critical injuries including a fractured skull. She spent a week in the hospital before dying. The family's lawyer stated that the legal proceedings were launched while Nowland was still receiving end-of-life care. The case has now entered mediation, with a status conference scheduled for February. The officer involved, Senior Constable Kristian White, has been charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
