UN expert urges Algeria to pardon pro-democracy convicts

A United Nations expert has called on Algeria to pardon individuals convicted or detained for their involvement in the pro-democracy protests of 2019-2020, known as the Hirak movement. Voule also called for the repeal of a penal code article and an amendment that broadened the definition of terrorism.
