The Himachal Pradesh Government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate cases of cryptocurrency fraud. The SIT will be led by Abhishek Dullar, DIG (Northern Range), and will comprise experts in the field. The decision was made due to the increasing number of cryptocurrency fraud cases reported globally and nationally. The state has already received 56 complaints in the past two years, resulting in six FIRs and five arrests. Three cyber police stations have been set up to combat cryptocurrency crimes. The scams in Kangra and Hamirpur districts alone amount to approximately Rs 200 crore each.
