Landslides in Two Places in Kerala’s Kottayam Following Sudden Heavy Rain; Roads Blocked

Heavy rains in Kerala's Kottayam district caused landslides in two areas and disrupted traffic, including the road to Vagamon hill station. The sudden downpour also raised concerns about a flood situation in downstream areas. Traffic on the Vagamon road was blocked for several hours but partially restored later in the evening. The district collector prohibited vehicular traffic on the Vagamon-Erattupetta road due to ongoing operations to clear the rubble and the possibility of further landslides. Fortunately, no casualties were reported from the landslides, but accurate information from other affected areas is still awaited.
