Maharashtra: Aurangabad Now Officially Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Osmanabad Is Dharashiv

The Maharashtra government has officially changed the name of Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad district to Dharashiv. The decision to rename the cities was taken last year by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, but was deemed illegal by the current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his deputy Devendra Fadnavis. The names were changed at the sub-division, village, taluka, and district levels after considering suggestions and objections. Aurangabad was renamed as Sambhajinagar, with the prefix "Chhatrapati" added.
